About Dawn

Helping women nourish themselves with confidence for every season of midlife.

My Story

For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside women through some of life's biggest health transitions.

From my early work helping establish one of Indiana's first bariatric surgery programs to years spent supporting women through digestive concerns, metabolic health, menopause, and now GLP-1 therapies and nutrigenomics, one thing has remained constant:

Women don't need more nutrition information.

They need someone they can trust to help them make sense of it.

That realization is what inspired Dawn Boxell Nutrition.

Not another diet.

Not another set of food rules.

A trusted place where women can learn, ask questions, and build confidence in caring for their bodies.

What I've Learned

After thousands of patient conversations, I've learned...

Health isn't built through perfection.

Every woman's story is different.

Nutrition should fit your life—not the other way around.

Food is more than calories. It provides the building blocks your body uses every day to heal, protect, and thrive.

The most meaningful changes are often the smallest ones repeated consistently.

Confidence grows when you understand the "why."

One of my favorite moments as a dietitian happened years ago when colleagues laughed after overhearing one of my patient conversations.

Instead of telling someone they couldn't have fries, I encouraged them to enjoy the fries—and add broccoli too.

Not because broccoli "cancels out" fries.

But because nourishment isn't about perfection.

It's about helping your body receive what it needs while still making room for the foods and traditions that bring joy.

That simple conversation captures how I've practiced nutrition for more than three decades.

I don't believe lasting health comes from fear or rigid food rules.

I believe it comes from understanding your body, making thoughtful choices, and taking one practical step at a time.

I'm glad you're here.

What you can expect…

My goal isn't to help you follow another set of food rules.

It's to help you understand your body, build confidence in your choices, and create habits that support your health for years to come.

Everything we do together is guided by these six principles:

🌿 Nourishment comes before restriction.

We focus on adding what helps your body thrive before taking foods away.

🧭 Your body deserves an individualized approach.

There's no one-size-fits-all nutrition plan because there's no one-size-fits-all person.

🌱 Progress is more powerful than perfection.

Small, sustainable changes create meaningful, lasting results.

🔬 Science matters—and so does real life.

I combine current research, clinical experience, and your unique circumstances to guide our decisions.

💛 Understanding creates confidence.

When you understand the "why," healthy choices become easier and more sustainable.

🏡 Healthy habits should support your life—not control it.

Nutrition should bring freedom, not fear.

Why this matters to me….

When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me spending time with the people I love most.

My family reminds me that health isn't about achieving perfection—it's about having the energy, confidence, and freedom to fully participate in life's moments.

Whether it's traveling together, sharing meals, or simply enjoying everyday life, these are the moments that remind me why nourishment matters.

My goal has never been to help women eat "perfectly." It's to help them build the health, confidence, and freedom to fully enjoy the people and moments that matter most.

The people I love—and the moments we share—are my greatest reminder that health isn't measured by perfection. It's measured by having the energy, confidence, and freedom to fully participate in life.
